Our approaches, methods and techniques

We will use different approaches , methods and techniques depending on the student’s age , needs , learning styles or motivation. Students usually have different motivations like passing a Cambridge/IELTS exam , having to use English at work, moving to an English speaking country or studying English for pleasure , to travel , learn about other cultures and make friends. Our approaches , methods and techniques will obviously change and vary depending on the student’s motivation.

The most commonly used approach will be the Communicative Approach that reflects concepts like:

learner’s centredness

creativity

focus on fluency

pair/group work

elements of fun in the lesson

Our main aims are to:

Create a pleasant atmosphere in the real and /or virtual class

Promote students’ activity and co-operation

Reduce stress and individual anxiety when learning and speaking English encouraging , motivating and giving constructive feedback

Focus on the student’s interests and creative abilities

Help students to boost their confidence

Improve all the four skills : speaking , listening , reading , writing and the accuracy of their language and vocabulary in English

Give meaningful input from different sources and simulate real life activities in class

Create suitable context for the language and help students to discover the language , with a particular focus on FORM , MEANING and PRONUNCIATION

Use a variety of methods and techniques – i.e task-based learning , pair work , projects , presentations , debates , role plays , running dictations- to help students improve and use English efficiently .

The Task-based language teaching is a student-centred approach to second language instruction. It is an offshoot of the communicative approach , wherein activities focus on having students use authentic target language in order to complete meaningful tasks, i.e. situations they might encounter in the real world and other project-based assignments.

A task-based activity is one in which students have to use language to achieve a specific outcome. The best TBL activities reflect real lifeat a restaurant ,at the doctor’s , at the hotel, checking in at the airport , holding a meeting , doing a presentation etc.
